This page is for the students of yoga to share their journey about the people and places that have inspired them.

"I started doing yoga because I had a back injury which caused me a lot of pain and when I started I couldn't even reach my knees doing a forward bend.  I tried alot of different things to get over it, but nothing happened until I met Kellie (my first teacher) by chance and she said she was sure she could help me by using yoga.  At first, I was only interested in the physical aspects of the yoga as I could see it physically changing my body and helping me overcome my injury until the pain was nearly gone and I could put my hands flat onto the floor.  And through that exposure, I could see my outlook changing, stress levels reducing and generally becoming more able to cope with the demands of daily life.
I decided I wanted to help others like I had been helped by becoming a teacher myself and that was when I met you.  You were the one who really helped me to become a teacher.  You helped me prepare physically for what was coming (as I truly had no idea of what I'd asked for!). You helped to explain the intricacies of the philosophy so that I understood the changes I was experiencing, so that I could accept concepts that otherwise I might have rejected without understanding, so that I could pass these same concepts to other people.  You helped to build up my confidence - not only because you were so certain I could achieve my goals, but from the no nonsense lesson you gave me about releasing my concerns about other people's perceptions and really putting my emphasis into my own beliefs (still working on that, but boy is it better :) )   Finally, the biggest and best gift you gave me was the introduction to the vinyasa flow style.
Vinyasa flow is the style I am now teaching. The creativity, joy and spontaneity surrounding this style is one of the biggest motivators that keeps me on the mat.  I love what I do and so I do it.  That's really the essence of things for me.
So thank you very much, Matt, you probably don't know how much you have helped me and others like me, but you are really a gifted teacher and we were all lucky to have had you in our lives."

Namaste,
Chani

Hi Matt

Just wanted to write a little note to thank you so much for the week of yoga.  I really feel I learned a lot not only about the physical aspects of yoga but the deeper more spiritual side too. I think that really kicked in about the Wednesday or Thursday but hasn't left and feel it brought me a very different experience of the yoga and meditative side.
